EVENTS

MAVWA, or  Mountain and Valley Wool Association  
This association promotes fiber animals and animal fiber crafts in Colorado, New Mexico and Texas.  
It produces the Wool Festival At Taos, which is held every year during the first full weekend in October, 
and which includes workshops the week before and the week after the Festival.  Elsa Wool Company 
has been a vendor at this event for the past 21 years, and plans to be a vendor on October 6th and 7th, 2007.

Pagosa Fiber Festival  
This 2-day event features fiber animal exhibits, fiber craft demonstrations and workshops, as well as 
vendor booths and a Navajo rug auction. Elsa Wool Company has been a vendor at this event in the past, 
and plans to be a vendor on Memorial Day week-end in 2007.

Best of the Southwest
This organization educates about and promotes the Southwestern United States, especially the Four Corners Region.
They produce the Best of the Southwest Fiber Arts Festival every year on Veterans Day week-end.

Kathy Martin, with her daughter Kelley, raises Angora goats in Colorado,
and buys sheep and alpaca wools, mostly from Colorado.
Kathy washes, dyes, blends, and spins these fibers,
and she sells washed mohair locks, handspun and millspun roving, and
yarns, patterns, and kits.
She also teaches pickin', grinnin', and spinnin'.

La Plata Farms
La Plata Farms, in Hesperus, Colorado, is owned by Doug and Pam Ramsey.
The Ramseys raise Navajo Churro and Lincoln sheep. They sell sheep,
fleeces, and supplies and books for spinners, dyers, knitters, and crocheters.

Shear Perfection Ranch
Jerry and Lyn Brown raise California Red sheep in La Plata, New Mexico.
California Reds were created from Tunis and Barbados stock.

Red Bird Knits 
A small family-run business in Toronto, Ontario, selling knitting yarns, needles, books, and patterns,
and specializing in sock and lace knitting. 
Robyn Gallimore, the owner, says that her goal is to provide excellent, timely, and personalized service
and a good range of interesting and exciting yarns.  
She carries several lace and fingering weight Cormo yarns from Elsa Sheep and Wool Company.

A Simple Piece of String
A Simple Piece of String is owned by Kathy Gilliland and Elaine Sipes,
who are neighbors in Livermore, Colorado.
Kathy raises alpacas. Elaine raises alpacas and llamas.
Both spin, weave, knit, felt, and dye.
They sell equipment and supplies for spinners, weavers, knitters, and crocheters,
and they hold classes for others wanting to learn fiber crafts.
